Effect of air pockets in drug delivery via jet injections

Needle-free jet injections are actuated by a pressure impulse that can be delivered different mechanisms to generate high-speed jets (Vj~O102 m/s). During filling and transportation of disposable cartridges ampoules, bubbles form, which problematic especially for viscous fluids. Here, we report on the effect location size entrapped air pockets in used spring-powered injections. As pass through orifice, they undergo depressurization, results intermittent atomization spray formation, temporarily increasing dispersion. Atomization dispersion lead product loss during an injection. We find bubble exit speed, delivery efficiency, projected area blebs formed after injection was statistically significant (p<0.05). The findings this study have implications development pre-filled applications.
